Web Designer 2
PURPOSE: To serve on project teams to design and develop client health communication Web sites. Responsible for development of the graphic design, navigation, CSS templates, standards, Section 508 Web accessibility requirements, testing, research, search engine optimization, and implementation of organizational web goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Web Development Assists senior Web designer to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement new Web products, both standard and mobile. Works with communications specialists, management, designers, other Web developers, and the Web Manager (where applicable) to advise on and implement decisions regarding: audience analysis and research; registering with search engines; structure, information architecture, navigation, and wireframes; technical specifications; adhering to section 508 compliance; working with ISD for special needs (databases); testing sites for usability, accessibility and functionality; optimizing design for web functionality and efficiency; implementing production plans; and monitoring use of site thru site reporting utilities. Keeps training, skills, and knowledge current through conferences and self study.
Develops Web maintenance plans for existing sites and ensures development of maintenance plans for new sites. Researches and identifies emerging Web technologies, software, and trends that clients will need to incorporate into their Web skills set. Works with Health Communications and Technical Training staff to implement and enforce Web development standards, guidelines, and policies.
Work with Health Communications Research Group to implement Internet marketing activities in concurrence with the client marketing plan, ORAU Strategic Plan, programmatic business sales plan, and marketing plans, etc. Provide technical advice and counsel to Heath Communication team members during implementation/rollout of new marketing plans, Web sites, etc. Provide web-tracking analysis and information to the Health Communication Team to help in making decisions as they relate to Web communication and marketing.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications, Graphic Design or related field required and two - four years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have extensive knowledge and experience with Web development, usability, and accessibility issues. Must possess in-depth knowledge of Web Development and Design theory, processes, and practices; Communications theory and practices including marketing, advertising, PR principles; Writing - for the WebD; Information Architecture; Accessibility Guidelines and Section 508 Compliance Standards; ORAU policies and procedures; and technical communications and editing-rules of grammar, style, syntax, and intricacies of the English language. Must have working knowledge of Health Communications and Technical Training, Health Communication program's client needs, computing resources policies and procedures, technology infrastructure, and ORAU's and client Web publishing guidelines and standards. Must have extensive knowledge of and experience with Dreamweaver, Acrobat Pro, HTML, Photoshop/Fireworks/Illustrator, MS Word, CSS, Flash, Javascript, XML, Javascript, Visio, Morea. Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to communicate and work productively in a multi-disciplinary environment. Must have experience working with writers, editors, graphic designers, photographers, web developers, programmers, and vendors for the development of online products. Must provide a sample(s) of your web design work.
