Latent Print Technician R

PURPOSE: Under immediate supervision, performs specific, well-defined activities requiring professional or scientific training that are designed to prepare incumbent for forensic science duties. Technicians will recognize and aid in recovery of Latent Prints on evidence. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Receives, inventories and stores evidence according to quality assurance guidelines, to include chain-of-custody documentation as necessary.

 
  • Performs routine analyses, tests, and examinations utilizing well defined methods and a variety of scientific tools, equipment, instrumentation and techniques to recover latent prints from a variety of materials.

  • Analyzes developed and submitted friction ridge impressions. Determines value for photographic purposes.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (two years work experience equivalent to one year post-secondary education). Must successfully complete and pass established training requirements and competency test within the time period as set forth by the supported program. Prefer one year recent experience as a Latent Print Technician. Must possess the ability to develop new skills through forensic training regarding laboratory protocols and processes to analyze routine materials and to coordinate the movement of evidence and related material. Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
