PURPOSE: To perform preliminary evaluation of latent print images to determine potential suitability for encoding into an automated identification system. Will receive oversight and obtain necessary approvals prior to images being searched within the system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs preliminary evaluation of latent prints for suitability for encoding into the Next Generation Identification (NGI) in preparation for requisite approvals necessary to launch images for search.
Use the NGI and related technology based systems to enhance latent images
Review various quality latent prints for suitability for database entry and determine if the latent is a positive or negative impression.
Digitize NGI quality latent images, select appropriate orientation, focal points and ridge events; Prepares detailed laboratory case notes and related reports and updates databases as required.
High School diploma or GED and one to three years of job related experience in latent print processing where a sufficiency determination is made and/or conducting latent print comparisons. Prefer experience utilizing AFIS/IAFIS/NGI to encode, search, and review candidate responses. Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
