Application for Internships
We are now accepting applications for the fall cycle of appointments. In addition, there may still be a limited number of summer appointments available.
If you meet the basic eligibility requirements, please follow the directions below to complete the online application.

Directions for Application
You must have an e-mail address. You will create a password by clicking on the registration link on the login page. MAKE A NOTE OF YOUR PASSWORD BECAUSE ONLY YOU WILL KNOW IT!
BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY.
Once you have registered, you will be able to re-enter the application. You do not have to complete the application in one session.
Be sure to save your application periodically. Please be aware while you are completing the application online that you will be timed out of the application after 20 minutes of inactivity. Any material not saved will be lost. If this happens, you will be directed to the login screen and you may then re-enter the application.
When working on parts of your application, please use the navigation options provided. DO NOT use the BACK button on your browser.
Application Components
During the application process you will be asked to provide the following:
- Resume
Your resume must be converted to a .pdf or .rtf file. You will then upload the resume by following the directions in the online application.
- References
Two references are required and must be received no later than the January 31 application deadline. At any time during the online application or when you submit, you may click the button at the bottom to receive an e-mail with instructions for obtaining reference information.
- Essays
You may wish to prepare the 2 required essays in a word processing program that will allow you to copy them into the online application. There is a 6000-character limit. The questions are:
- Describe your academic interests and career goals.
- Discuss your career aspirations and how the DOE Scholars Program will enable you to achieve your goals. Describe any personal, professional, or educational experiences or situations that you feel have influenced your interest.
- Transcripts will be required IF you are selected for the program. Official copies of transcripts should be sent directly from the granting institution to the address below:

For institutions that do not provide transcripts, please have the institution(s) that granted your degree provide a list of courses and grades. This information should be sent directly from the granting institution(s) on official letterhead and signed by the department that issues the letter.
