Working Groups
Who are the members?
Working Group members are subject matter experts in areas for which products are considered for development. They must be contractor or federal EMI SIG members, and they work together to develop a training product or other resource.
How are members selected?
Working Group members are solicited during a general interest meeting where an outline or product concept overview is presented. SIG members indicate their interest and obtain management support for participation in development of the product.
What do they do?
Members meet several times during the development process to provide information for the new product. The members are actively involved, from the initial brainstorming of a product idea, to final product design and development. The Working Group also serves as the primary review group for the product.
EMI SIG Assistance
The EMI SIG manager coordinates the Working Group's activities (e.g., organizes meetings, provides minutes of meetings, oversees production of the product, etc.). The EMI SIG manager also coordinates the services of ORISE Instructional Technologists (IT) or Designers to assist in development of training products to ensure that products have a sound instructional basis. The IT uses Working Group-contributed materials to develop a draft product, which is reviewed by the Working Group. ORISE staff provide technical editing, revisions, and final products for distribution to EMI SIG members after review by DOE Headquarters sponsor.
EMI SIG publications are free to members and can be obtained by contacting Dorothy Cohen, the EMI SIG Manager.
