The DOE/NNSA Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has issued the following Emergency Management Update relating to Release of Revision 26 of the Protective Action Criteria (PAC) Database. Using the Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI SIG) Listserv, OEM periodically sends updates related to emergency management topics of interest.
Previous issues of updates are available on the EMI SIG website and on the Subcommittee on Consequence Assessment and Protective Action (SCAPA) page. Generally, in cases where the subject requires more than one page of discussion, the update includes a summary discussion and links are provided for more detail.
Release of Revision 26 of the
Protective Action Criteria (PAC) Database
Revision 26 of the Protective Action Criteria (PAC) Workbook has been released. This dataset includes the PAC values used in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) emergency management and safety analysis programs. The changes to the PAC dataset include the following:
- After additions and the elimination of duplicate/synonym entries, the database now contains 3,388 chemicals.
- Changes and/or updates to the published exposure limits (e.g. Acute Exposure Guideline Levels, TLV-TWAs, etc.) used in PAC development were incorporated.
- A review and update of toxicity data was performed on chemicals that were added to the dataset prior to 1998.
