SCAPA Annual Meeting

Happy New Year!  Plans are being made for the 2014 annual SCAPA Meeting, to be held at the EMI SIG Annual Meeting.  This year, the EMI SIG is hoping to hold its Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada during the last week in April.  The EMI SIG is currently waiting for DOE management approval before logistical arrangements are finalized.  The 2014 EMI SIG Annual Meeting web page will provide the latest news on the meeting’s status and will present preliminary meeting agendas and logistical information as they become available.

If all goes as planned, this year’s EMI SIG and SCAPA meetings should be quite interesting and informative.  Webinar and teleconference connections will likely be provided for those unable to participate in person.  We hope to include presentations by local consequence assessment experts and tours of the Nevada National Security Site.

SCAPA will likely host a booth at the EMI SIG TRADEing Post.  At our booth, we will be demonstrating SCAPA products and providing an opportunity for meeting attendees to chat with SCAPA working group members and test new SCAPA-related products.

Outstanding Performance Award

Congratulations to graduate student intern Juan Yao for winning an Outstanding Performance Award from PNNL!  This award was in recognition of her tireless work in support of SCAPA’s Chemical Mixture Methodology (CMM) program.  Juan Yao has played a key role over the past two and
one-half years implementing CMM enhancements and coordinating the work or our undergraduate interns.
