About Exercise Builder

The target audience for Exercise Builder is EMI SIG members who are DOE federal employees or contractor personnel. City, county, state, or federal staff as well as members of the military who conduct work for the public sector may also be interested in this product.

System Requirements

Exercise Builder is a stand-alone, PC-based application.  It must be installed onto your system for full functionality to develop exercise and drill packages.

Minimum systems requirements include:

Operating System Windows NT®, Windows 2000®, Windows XP® SP3 (32 Bit), Windows Vista® (32 Bit), or Windows 7® (32 Bit and 64 Bit)
Processor Speed 300 MHz or faster
Random-access Memory (RAM) Minimum of 64 MB (128 MB recommended)
Available Disk Space At least 1500 MB (1.5 GB)
Disk Drive CD-ROM Drive
Other Applications Word Processing Software*
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape)

*Examples of word processing software are MS Word or WordPerfect®. Exercise Builder will create your Exercise Plan documents in a rich text format (RTF) and display these documents in whatever word processing software your computer has associated with RTF files.

Applications that come with the Windows operating systems such as WordPad® or NotePad® can be used but will greatly limit your document-formatting capabilities.

All EMI SIG activity, including the production of Exercise Builder, is sponsored by the DOE Office of Emergency Management and Policy (NA-41).

Exercise and Drill Subcommittee

This subcommittee authorized the formation of the Exercise Builder Task Group and has oversight of Task Group activities.

Exercise Builder Task Group

Volunteer EMI SIG members from across the DOE complex commit to one year of intensive testing, usability discussions, and application of lessons learned to provide suggestions for product enhancements. The 2009-2010 Task Group is:

Design and Programming Team

ORISE is responsible for implementing all programming and design decisions authorized by the Task Group. Contact ORISE for assistance with installing or using the application or to submit comments about the product.
