Equal Access Initiative (EAI) Computer Grants Program
The Equal Access Initiative (EAI) Computer Grants Program is sponsored by the National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of AIDS Research (OAR), to help community organizations build technological capacity with the goal of enhancing their ability to provide HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment information for their clients and communities. Each year, qualified faith-/community-based organizations (F/CBOs) in the United States, its territories and possessions are invited to submit an application to receive one of 100 state-of-the-art desktop computers and a scholarship package to attend specialized training at the United States Conference on AIDS (USCA). ORISE, in partnership with the National Library of Medicine (NLM), Specialized Information Services Division, has developed the Equal Access Initiative: HIV/AIDS Information Resources from the National Library of Medicine workbook. NLM and ORISE staff conduct the training at the USCA for representatives of the grantee organizations to familiarize them with NLM’s valuable online health information resources and other reputable resources that address HIV/AIDS and related medical conditions.
Equal Access Initiative: HIV/AIDS Information Resources from the National Library of Medicine contains information on selected NLM resources that pertain to HIV/AIDS and related medical conditions and includes exercises based on realistic scenarios and information on additional Internet resources selected for the relevance and quality to help the grantees effectively access treatment and prevention information to better serve their clients, colleagues, and communities.
