Update on TA-16 Stepladder Accident Investigation Video
As noted in previous meeting highlights, Rob Nicholas had reported that a video had been completed about a LANL 2003 accident involving a subcontractor employee cutting a pipe standing on ladder. LANL Manager Barbara Hargis is assisting Rob in drafting an executive summary of the stepladder accident that will be made available through the Web. The video has been approved to distribute as a product through the IH/OS SIG.  A point-of-contact for each of the organizations represented in the SIG will receive a copy of the video prior to September 30, 2004.

Update on Walk-Around Safety Process Videos
Rob Nicholas previously reported that he was working on 4 videos that focus on a walk-around safety process which is a means in which manager watch workers doing their task and engage in safety related discussions with them.  The videos include general instructions about the safety process and examples of three different work environments in which the trainer models and leads the walk-around process. The four separate videos will be compiled into one video tape.  A discussion guide for this video will be made available through the Web.  The video also has been approved to distribute as a product through the IH/OS SIG.  The same point-of-contact who will receive the stepladder video will also receive a copy of this video at the same time.

2004 IH/OS SIG Steering Committee Workshop
The Steering Committee has previously approved the IH/OS SIG Steering Committee workshop to be held in conjunction with the PCIH 2004 Conference (sponsored by AIHA's Academy of Industrial Hygiene) October 2–5, 2004, Montréal, Canada.  The SIG’s workshop will be October 6, 8:30 – 12:00 EST , the day following the PCIH Conference at the Sheraton Hotel.  Advance registration and hotel registration for the PCIH Conference is August 20.  Committee Members planning on attending either the PCIH and/or the SIG’s ½ workshop will need to work with the PCIH hotel deadlines since a separate contract will not be put in-place just for the SIG’s workshop.  Ralph Hinterman reported that locations and prices of nearby hotels can be found at: priceline.com. All details related to the PCIH can be found at: http://www.aiha.org/TheAcademy/html/pcih.htm.All Steering Committee members are encouraged to attend the workshop in person but have been asked to participate by teleconference if they could not travel to it.
