Air-Purifying Respirators (Video)
Product Description: The 25-minute training video, contributed by Los Alamos National Laboratory, introduces workers to the proper fitting and use of air-purifying respirators (APRs). First, the video relates the dynamics of respiration to those conditions which might involve airborne hazardous materials. It then explores various conditions which require respiratory protection, as well as the different types of protection: air-supplied respirators, self-contained breathing apparatuses, and APRs. Next, the video focuses on half-face and full-face APRs, identifying the parts of the respirators, the types of purification cartridges, and the proper donning, testing, removal, storage, and maintenance procedures. Limitations of the respirators and the respirator users are also described. The video concludes with respirator fitting and the issuance of an authorization card. The video received the AEGIS award.VIEW
