Walkaround-Safety Walkaround Training in Four Modules (Video)
The Walkaround video was developed at LANL by the Performance Surety Division and the Health, Safety, and Radiation Protection Division. This video includes four training modules that demonstrate the safety walkaround process, a process for managers to walk a workspace and engage workers in collaborative discussions about safety in the workplace. Walkarounds are effective tools for improving safety through behavioral observation and teamwork. David Herbert, a Senior Fellow with the National Safety Council, models and describes the process in three different work environments.

The four video modules can be used in a variety of ways. They can be used individually or together as a tool to train managers on how to conduct a walkaround process as well as train employees about the safety walkaround elements. When shown in a group setting, the modules can be used as a starting point to discuss how to use the walkaround process within each group to improve their own safety. The Walkaround video is the recipient of the 2004 Bronze Telly Award. The Telly Awards annually showcase the best work of television stations, production companies, advertising agencies, and corporate video departments throughout the world. Entries for these awards are received from all 50 states and five continents and is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition.
