DOE Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis is seeking a postgraduate to research clean energy innovation and deployment in Washington, D.C. office

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis is seeking a researcher who received a masters or doctorate degree within the past five years to conduct strategic analysis on programs, industry and investments related to clean energy innovation and deployment from its Washington D.C. location. Interested individuals with a background in economics, policy, business, finance, engineering or a related field, must apply online by Nov. 30, 2015.

The research will include the following as part of the DOE Science, Technology and Policy Program: 

  • Identifying, incorporating and integrating large, multi-disciplinary datasets and analysis on federal, industry and investor activities across the clean energy sector 
  • Authoring short, practical/applied papers and presentations evaluating the effectiveness of innovation and deployment policies
  • Performing case study analysis of innovation and clean energy deployment pathways 
  • Engaging stakeholders across academic, industry, investment and nonprofit communities 
  • Summarizing complex analytical results and policy conclusions and brief DOE senior leadership 

Successful applicants must have a strong quantitative background with demonstrated skills of multi-disciplinary data analysis, strong written and oral communication skills to translate complex issues for senior decision makers and willingness to perform dynamic, team-based analysis. Experience with energy technologies; entrepreneurial settings; and research, development, demonstration and deployment (RDD&D) is a plus.
