Technology Solutions
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) applies the latest technology to its custom-developed national security and emergency management solutions.
Examples include:
- NA-42 Event Tracking System (NETS)
For NNSA's Office of Emergency Response (NA-42), this ORISE-developed system tracks scheduled exercises and operations to give managers comprehensive visibility on the activities of their teams. - Asset Readiness Management System (ARMS)
This system provides readiness information on DOE's personnel and equipment. Through a system of strict metrics, ARMS automatically calculates readiness scores for each asset based on the depth of personnel available, their training, their inventory of equipment, and the condition of their equipment. - Exercise Builder
Working with subject matter experts from DOE's Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group, ORISE created this unique computer-based tool for DOE personnel who develop exercises and drills. It makes available generic exercise components such as scenarios, objectives, and criteria; sites can add site-specific information and produce exercise packages using this tool. - WeB-MEDIS
This ORISE-designed system uses PDAs to provide emergency responders with a highly portable system for inputting and sharing patient data from the field. - Use of Handheld and Wireless Devices in an Emergency
ORISE emergency planners train organizations in how to effectively use handheld and wireless devices to improve communication among emergency response teams.
