Professor Laroche has a 33-year history of military service beginning as a Medical Officer on a French nuclear submarine thereafter becoming Chief Medical Officer on a French Naval base. Thereafter, he became the Chief of the Medical Division at the French Defense Radiation Protection Service (SPRA) and in 2007, he became Vice Director. He is a member of the scientific committee of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Institute and serves as expert advisor to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He has authored ~200 publications and papers on subjects affecting the operability of the military medical service during radiological incidents, improving the knowledge of radiation protection and studies on internal/external exposures with radionuclides.
