Project Description:
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applications for a Post-Doctoral appointment of one year with the possibility of a one year renewal on the Scientific Software Team in the Computer Science Research Group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of an integrated environment for modeling and simulation that covers many areas of computational science, including applications in batteries, nuclear reactors and fuels, plasma-facing components in fusion reactors and quantum computer simulations and quantum information. The successful applicant would simultaneously contribute to software development activities and original research. Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree in computer science or software engineering is preferred, but applicants with backgrounds in chemistry, computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics, physics and/or a closely related discipline will be considered. For this appointment, the candidate’s degree must have been completed and granted by the university at the start of the appointment. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than three years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. Experience in one of the application areas described above is highly desirable, but general application development work in another field may be substituted. Incumbents will have excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic group environment.
