Oak Ridge, Tenn. — The Oak Ridge Institute for Science Education is now accepting applications for postdoctoral opportunities in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Science, Technology and Policy Program. Selected candidates will be placed with DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy.
Applicants will have the opportunity to apply for numerous Advanced Power Generation technology areas including extreme environment materials, rare earth element and advanced coal processing, advance combustion systems, carbon capture technologies, carbon utilization technologies, carbon storage technologies and computer science. After selected candidates are placed in a program, participants will engage and learn about projects related to the oversight and day to day direction of a Headquarters level program.
To be eligible, candidates must be a U.S. citizen and currently pursuing, or have already completed, a PhD in computer sciences, engineering or a physical science discipline such as, but not limited to, chemistry, geology, geochemistry and geophysics. Each Fossil Energy program has a unique set of preferred skills candidates should be familiar with before applying to the selected research area, which is detailed in the application.
Initial appointments last for one year and may be extended for four additional years contingent upon availability of programmatic funds and the candidate’s ability to continually meet the program terms and conditions. Accepted participants will receive a stipend determined by the Office of Fossil Energy for the duration of the appointment. A relocation allowance may be provided for participants relocating to the hosting facility.
