You are required to have health insurance on the first day of your appointment and throughout the duration of your appointment. You may not continue in the DOE Scholars Program if your insurance coverage lapses.
You may be eligible to purchase individual or family insurance coverage offered through ORISE, or you may obtain another insurance plan from the company of your choice.
If you enroll in the health insurance plan offered through ORISE, you will have the full cost of the monthly premium deducted from your stipend payment. This deduction pays for health insurance for the current month.
Vision and dental insurance plans are not available through ORISE.
