You are required to have health insurance on the first day of your appointment and throughout the duration of the program. You may not continue in the ICCE Program if your insurance coverage lapses.
If eligible, individual or family insurance coverage may be purchased through ORAU, or you may obtain another insurance plan from the company of your choice. More information on the insurance coverage offered by ORAU may be found at the ORAU Health Insurance site.
The ICCE Program may offer a health insurance stipend supplement to help defray the cost of your insurance. This supplement may be applied to the insurance plan of your choice. If you are not enrolled in the ORAU insurance plan, you must send documentation of the premium paid to ORAU before the first supplement can be issued.
If you enroll in the ORAU health insurance plan you will have the full cost of the monthly premium deducted from your stipend payment. These deductions pay for health insurance for the current month.
Vision and dental insurance plans are not available through ORAU. ICCE health insurance stipend supplements may not be applied to the cost of such plans obtained elsewhere.
