If you are assigned to an in-person internship that is more than 50 miles from your current address, R2W Internship provides up to $1,000 to cover limited inbound and outbound travel expenses. ORISE may help you with making travel arrangements.

You are responsible for arranging your own housing accommodations. For the summer session, a stipend supplement based on your assigned location will be provided. The housing options will depend on the host facility and the local options. Some sites have secured housing or have onsite housing that may be available to you; other sites will require you to find housing on your own, although most sites generally provide information to help you.

Stipends will be paid based on a predetermined schedule, which will be provided upon acceptance. You should plan to bring enough money to cover transportation, meals, and miscellaneous expenses for the first 30 days.

Everyone will be asked to travel to Washington, D.C. for the orientation meeting.
Depending on your placement within the U.S. Department of Energy or its National Laboratories, you may be asked to travel to attend meetings, conferences, or site visits and travel expenses will be covered by your sponsoring office or lab.

You will be required to pass a background check to participate in the program and receive your badge to access DOE buildings and facilities.

Yes. Editing an application requires you withdraw your application. You must submit your application again before the opportunity closes to be considered for the opportunity. Please ensure that the application status shows as Submitted - complete in your dashboard by the deadline.
