Due to health and safety concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak, Oak Ridge National Laboratory has temporarily suspended new internship and research associate appointments. This includes the Lab’s summer 2020 programs. There is a small chance that the suspension of summer programs could be lifted if circumstances change, but for now this decision will help minimize the risk to visiting students and to the Laboratory.

Current ORISE participants: Current participants at ORNL may be able to fulfill the remainder of their appointments remotely, with mentor approval. Please consult with your mentor to determine the best path forward. You can refer to ORNL’s COVID-19 advisory for information on actions being taken at the Lab.

Incoming summer participants who have received an appointment offer: Please review any travel, housing, transportation, or other arrangements you may have made regarding your internship/research associate appointment and revise/cancel accordingly. If the suspension of internship/research associate appointments is lifted and an appointment is possible, you may receive a new appointment offer, but ORISE recommends that you consider alternatives for your summer activities.

Applicants: Applicants to ORISE opportunities at ORNL will remain under consideration once programs resume. You are encouraged to continue to apply to open opportunities, which are detailed here. You may also explore other ORISE opportunities around the country through Zintellect.

If you have any questions, please contact ORISE at ORNLedu@orau.org.
