You’ve decided that you’re ready to take on a STEM protégé. Now what? Current and incoming mentors can search all mentoring opportunities, review mentee applications and recommend candidates on Zintellect, an automated system managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education.
Zintellect provides research opportunities for students, graduates and faculty
If you or someone you know is a current student, recent graduate, postdoc or faculty member who you would like to mentor, Zintellect provides listings of internships, research experiences, and fellowships funded by government and private sector organizations. These programs are administered by ORISE and its managing contractor, ORAU. Opportunities encompass research and non-research participation programs established by DOE, as well as other federal agencies.
All programs listed in Zintellect aim to:
- Strengthen the scientific and technical workforce
- Transfer knowledge and technology to the academic community and up-and-coming STEM professionals
- Support to the nation’s commitment to science education
How Zintellect works
Zintellect requires verification for the mentor-level application access. When a mentor has completed the registration process, ORISE will review the information and approve access to the system. This process is usually completed within one business day after mentor registration.
