By managing numerous health information systems, the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education provides support to the U.S. Department of Energy and other government agencies in the assessment of health data and safety trends. In support of DOE and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ORISE manages a worker health data center that is home to more than 12.5 million worker health records. Information from these health records can help DOE set future policy and determine how to address emerging issues or concerns.

ORISE releases Occupational Radiation Exposure Report

ORISE has released the Occupational Radiation Exposure Report (.PDF, 3.40 MB), which presents the results of analyses of occupational radiation exposures at DOE National Nuclear Security Administration facilities during 2019. The report includes occupational radiation exposure information for DOE employees, contractors, and subcontractors, as well as members of the public who have worked or entered controlled areas monitored for exposure to radiation.

Data contained in this report are derived from DOE’s Radiation Exposure Monitoring System (REMS), a key asset in examining the occupational radiation exposure received at DOE facilities.
