The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) Research Participation Program is managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) under an interagency agreement between the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
ORAU is a not-for-profit corporation and university consortium that manages ORISE on behalf of DOE.
As the manager of ORISE, ORAU establishes and maintains capabilities to serve the workforce development needs of DOE and its laboratory system. Among those capabilities, DOE requires that ORISE administer research participation programs established by DOE. ORISE can also administer research participation programs for other federal agencies that establish those programs to strengthen their scientific and technical workforce in areas of science relevant to the agency’ goals, transfer the agency’s knowledge and technology to the academic community, and support the national commitment to science education.
Through its management of ORISE, ORAU directly supports DOE’s goals. And by providing the capabilities of ORISE to other federal agencies, ORAU supports the nation’s scientific enterprise and creates collaboration between DOE facilities, other federal agencies, the academic community, and industry.
