Recorded Webinars and Workshops
Open-source AI: What is it and why is it important?
Mark McQuade, CEO and Founder of Arcee AI
- Open-source AI is like sharing your homework answers with the whole class so everyone can learn, improve, and build on them, as opposed to just one person keeping the secrets, everyone gets to help make the work better together.
ORISE Presents: Developing Your Idea with Design Thinking
- In this webinar, ORISE presented on how to help middle and high school students get started on the challenge by introducing a method for identifying a problem and moving forward with developing a creative solution. Many great questions were asked during this session. For the sake of time, those questions have been trimmed from the recording, but are answered in the FAQ.
ORISE Presents: Getting Started with Track III (For Educators ONLY)
- In this webinar, ORISE presented on how to help educators understand the competition structure and requirements for Track III and support the development of their innovations by providing an overview of AI resources available for education.
National Science Foundation (NSF) AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions
The National Science Foundation (NSF) AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI, pronounced /a ɪ -fa ɪ /) is one of the inaugural NSF AI research institutes. The IAIFI is enabling physics discoveries and advancing foundational AI through the development of novel AI approaches that incorporate first principles from fundamental physics. The goal of the IAIFI is to advance physics knowledge and galvanize AI research innovation. AIFAI posts both videos and slides from most of their IAFAI Colloquia featuring global experts in AI+Physics on this page .
Resources for Educators
Amazon Resources
Amazon has created a landing page for educators participating in the Presidential AI Challenge. This page includes (for educators only):
- An intake form for educators to schedule meetings with Amazon technical experts to obtain hands-on support
- Information on how to access PartyRock, a playground Amazon is providing for educators to use natural language to create AI apps
- A resource library
Microsoft Resources
Microsoft recommends that educator participants in the Presidential AI Challenge begin their AI journeys at one of the following two websites:
- Unlocking AI Skills for Every Educator
Access free artificial intelligence (AI) resources from across Microsoft to help you prepare your students for the AI-driven future.
- AI Skills for Educators Training Course
Explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in education to prepare students for their AI-driven future. This course covers a brief history of AI, large language models (LLMs), generative AI, prompt engineering, responsible use of AI, and uses in a class setting. Dive into the art of a prompt to equip learners to get the best results from Microsoft Copilot and Image Creator from Designer. Explore the many ways to enhance teaching and learning with AI-powered tools in Microsoft Edge browser, Word, PowerPoint, Minecraft, and more.
Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Resources
Learning and Teaching with AI Professional Development Course
This self-paced, online professional development course from the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is designed to empower K-12 educators with the knowledge and tools to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their classrooms. Through engaging, hands-on modules, participants will explore foundational AI concepts, discover practical classroom applications, and learn strategies for teaching students to use AI responsibly and ethically.

Who Owns the Pixels
Submitted by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
In this classroom activity, students explore the creative challenges of generating images with artificial intelligence (AI). Students use generative AI image tools such as Adobe Express or Google Gemini to engage in prompt engineering to replicate a designated AI-generated image. Through experimentation, refinement, and discussion, students examine key concepts such as authorship and responsible AI technology usage in digital art. This guide outlines the learning targets, tools, and instructions for STEM classroom activities. This activity connects scientific concepts to real-world applications and includes extension opportunities, enrichment ideas, and printable materials to support student interest and engagement.
