About the U.S. Department of Transportation

The Research Participation Programs at the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) are managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) under an interagency agreement between U.S. DOT and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The purpose of U.S. DOT is:

  • To improve the quality of life for all American people and communities, from rural to urban, and to increase the productivity and competitiveness of American workers and businesses.
