About The Energy Innovator Fellowship program

The Energy Innovator Fellowship program funds recent graduates and energy professionals to support critical energy organizations in advancing solutions that will help modernize the power system, improve energy infrastructure for transportation and industry and make the U.S. power system more reliable, affordable, and resilient. The program recruits candidates from varied educational and professional backgrounds to spend up to two years supporting eligible host organizations, which include electric public utility commissions, municipal and cooperative utilities, state energy offices, grid operators, Tribal utilities, Inter-Tribal councils and other Tribal organizations.

The goal of the program is to increase access to energy career opportunities across the country and accelerate the national transition to resilient and affordable clean energy.

The program is managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) under an agreement between USGS and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). ORISE is managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) for DOE.
