K-12 Student Programs
Parents and K-12 students can access a selection of online games and participate in activities that introduce a variety of STEM subjects including AI, computer programming, environmental sciences, virtual reality, coding, and more. ORISE online activities not only introduce students to skills that lay the foundation for future STEM careers, but foster curiosity and innovation in student learning. Elementary to high school students also have opportunities to gain competitive educational experiences through ORISE K-12 student competitions.
During the summer months, ORAU offers a variety of programs to provide K-12 elementary, middle, and high school students with opportunities to engage in hands-on activities that broaden their interest and knowledge in STEM disciplines.

Tennessee Science Bowl
Each year, high school students from across Tennessee face off in a fast-paced, academic science and math competition for a chance to win a spot in the Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl. The Tennessee Science Bowl is annually managed by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education in hopes of inspiring students to pursue STEM-related studies and careers.
Students head west to experience once-in-a-lifetime research opportunity
Learn all about JSTI West, a two-week, fully-funded, residential STEM research experience for high school students. The purpose of the program is to inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields, increase STEM literacy, and expose students to the importance of STEM through hands-on, relevant research.
