STEM Competitions for K-12 Teachers

Deadline: on or before 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time, Thursday, October 31st, 2024

Dive into the atom’s core! ORISE wants to see how you bring the dynamic field of nuclear science to life in your lesson plans. Teachers of any grade level or subject are invited to submit a STEM lesson plan that includes nuclear science. TWO teachers who submit lesson plans will be selected to receive a MacBook Air and a nuclear science kit!

Details:

Interested educators are invited to submit an original lesson plan to https://orausurvey.orau.org/n/AtomicScience.aspx by 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time, Thursday, October 31st, 2024.

  • To avoid plagiarism, please a submit lesson plan that you have written. We understand that many activities are developed by other teachers; just make sure that you put your own spin on the activity.
  • Lesson plan may focus on any topic as long as the lesson plan incorporates nuclear science.
  • Lesson plans should include the following:
    • lesson title
    • teacher name and school
    • target grade level
    • time required for lesson
    • standards/objectives
    • materials required
    • instructional steps for introduction, activities, and closure
    • assessment strategies
    • differentiation strategies
  • Lesson plans will be scored using a rubric, and winners will be announced late November.
  • Teachers must teach in the United States, a U.S. Territory, or a DoDEA school to be eligible to win.
  • Teachers are eligible to win 2 ORISE competitions in a 12 month period.

Note: Lesson plans submitted for the competition may be shared with other educators via the ORISE website. Plans are subject to revision and edits by ORISE staff before they are shared, so please submit in an editable format (Not PDF).

Calling all innovative educators! ORISE invites teachers to submit their favorite self-made cross-curricular lesson plans that creatively blend STEM components with other subjects to enrich student learning. Whether you combine math with art, science with literature, history with technology, or something entirely different, this is your chance to share how you connect STEM across disciplines in your classroom. Summer is here and as you reflect over your year in the classroom, ORISE wants to see your favorite STEM lesson plan! Teachers of any grade level or subject are invited to submit their favorite STEM lesson plan. Show off your neatest, most fun, or most creative lesson plan – whatever makes it your favorite may also make it our favorite! THREE teachers who submit lesson plans will be selected to receive mini grants up to $1,500 to buy new equipment and supplies for their classroom that will soon become your favorite things!

Throughout the month of January, we want to hear how you appropriately incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into your classrooms! This could include AI tools you use to help in your teaching, how your students use AI in your class, or how you teach students about AI.
