Alan Forbes named director of Safeguards & Security for ORAU and ORISE
Alan Forbes has been named the new director of Safeguards & Security (S&S) for ORAU and the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE); he also will serve as the facility security officer. In this role, Forbes will oversee strategic and tactical S&S operations and staff.
Prior to this position, Forbes served as the security operations manager for the past five years, and he has been a part of S&S for 15 years as a physical security manager and information security specialist.
“We are thrilled for Alan to step in and take over this leadership role for us, especially since he is bringing such a wealth of security experience with him,” said ORAU President and CEO Meghan Millwood. “We also would like to thank former S&S Director Tom Amidon for his 18 years of dedicated service and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Forbes’ educational background includes a Master of Science in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management and a Bachelor of Science in Asset Protection and Security—both from Eastern Kentucky University.
