ORISE’s Leigha Justice honored with Good Scout Award

During a luncheon on April 22, 2025, the Great Smoky Mountain Council of Scouting America honored ORISE STEM Workforce Development Senior Manager Leigha Justice for her years of community service by awarding her the Good Scout Award for Anderson County.

The Good Scout Award is an award presented by Scouting of America to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to their community and have demonstrated the values of scouting. In addition to her role within ORISE, Justice is active in the community and currently serves on the boards of ORNL Federal Credit Union, East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC) and former chairperson, Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation, and the Oak Ridge High School Football Booster Club. She is also a former board member and chairperson of both the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce and the Roane State Foundation. In 2008, Justice was the recipient of the ETEC Postma Young Professional Medal and was also recognized as a Knoxville Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree.

The Great Smoky Mountain Council is responsible for scouting programs in 21 East Tennessee counties, serving 7,500 scouts. The Council had 111 Scouts who achieved the Eagle Scout Award in 2024, which included more than 17,241 hours of community service. Eagle Scout Service projects provided $631,352 of economic impact to East Tennessee through donated materials and volunteer labor.
